How old is my Hot Water Tank?
It is important to know the age of your of your hot water tank and when it is time to service or replace it.
You can find out how old your hot water tank is by looking at the information on the water tank’s label.
With newer models, the installation date of the hot water tank is usually located on the information sticker located on the the tank. With older models, you may have to research further to figure out exactly how old it might be.
The following are quick tips to help you figure out the age of your hot water tank:
First — Check for a label. It should be on the tank and look something like this …
Second — Look at the label to find out the:
- Serial Number (The best place to start is by looking at your water tanks’s serial number. It is usually located near the energy guide or warning labels on the body of the tank.)
FYI: If the label is missing or you have trouble figuring out the information, you can also use the serial number to help determine the age.
